Sister Outsider

Sister Outsider is a walk that makes room for communal reflection, reverence and rejuvenation of the South Shore neighborhood while being in community. The program leads participants on a conversational walk through the commercial thoroughfare of South Shore’s 75th Street and the residential beauty of 76th Street.

Each walk begins with a brief low-impact movement session led by a locally based fitness creative followed by small walking groups. Along the 1.5 mile round-trip trek, we celebrate the cultural history of South Shore while exploring intersections of art and social justice with a number of community members who are hired to serve as docents and share our history.

Our Sister Outsider Program has returned for the summer! Join us on the following dates at Rosenblum Park:

Saturday, June 17th at 10am

Saturday, July 15th at 10am

Saturday, August 19th at 10am

Sign up here if you’d like to walk with us, volunteer or lead a walk as a docent! [NOTE: As a paid role, docents lead the guided tours for each event. They are provided with a paid training in preparation for the tours and are expected to lead small groups on the short walk along 75th St. Click here to apply to be a docent.]
