Sister Outsider is a series of programs that focus on connecting black girls, women, and gender non-conforming individuals to outdoor spaces. It achieves this by partnering with organizations who share our values of promoting wellness, safety, and peace in the South Shore community through outdoor activities.
Neighborhood Walk | Our walking program leads participants on a conversational walk through the commercial thoroughfares of South Shore’s 71st and 75th Street. Along the 1.5 mile round-trip trek, we celebrate the cultural history of South Shore while exploring intersections of art and social justice with a number of community members employed as docents.
Bird Watching | South Shore is home to 6 acres of dune, wetland, woodland, prairie, savanna and shrub land habitats. Our bird watching program invites residents to explore the South Shore Nature Sanctuary to learn about and see migratory birds.
New outdoor activities in 2022 include How to Ride a Bike and Learn to Kayak.
Information on how you can get involved this year is coming soon!
